Built, branch by branch, or stumbled across and reclaimed, dens represent something instinctive within us all, perhaps a childhood conduit for play, or a human impulse for shelter. They are where we carve out a space from landscape to be held within landscape.

The drawings on this page are portraits of views looking into and out of dens constructed from forestry debris in the Wye Valley. They represent temporal structural forms within the landscape and form frames for the landscape itself.

The drawings in this series are drawn directly onto plywood in graphite. The surface is sealed for protection.
